Les étoiles vagabondes is the third studio album from
French rapper Nekfeu released on June 6, 2019 on the labels Seine Zoo,
Polydor and Universal. The album consists of 18 tracks and contains 5
duets with Damso, Vanessa Paradis, Alpha Wann, Némir and the Japanese
singer Crystal Kay5. This opus has been recorded in several different
countries, looking for varied sounds and melodies, inspirations and
local musicians. First in Greece (country where he comes from), in
France, in the United States in order to record with the trumpet player
Troy Andrews (during this trip to America, to New Orleans, he also met a
street musician playing percussion, and offered him to play on his
album); also in Japan, where a violinist will also pose several violin
notes; and finally, in Belgium, to record the featuring with Damso.
The Expansion version consists of 34 titles and contains new
collaborations with Framal, 2zer, Mekra (members of $ -Crew), Doums, and
the American singer BJ the Chicago Kid.
The musical and cinematographic project Les Étoiles vagabondes has been
widely commented in the press and has received very good reviews. For
PopMatters, Mr. Oliver wrote that: "Thanks to a judicious balance
between his competitive rapping instincts and the contemporary tendency
to embrace grief in verse, Les étoiles vagabondes excel like a
multifaceted, exhilarating and ultimately inspired hip-hop work". For Le
Figaro, "The flawless journey for Les Étoiles vagabondes, the new album
by Nekfeu [...]; "Sincere, virtuoso and melancholy and for which the
rapper confirms his status as an accomplished artist". For Les Inrocks,
Les étoiles vagabondes is a “vulnerable and touching self-portrait”.
